In the oncological station of the university pediatric clinic children are treated by the newborn child's old up to the age of about 17 years. Besides, children suffering from cancer are examined in-patient and partial-in-patient in the "oncological day clinic" which was opened in 1997 in enlarged rooms and was taken up by the children and her parents very positively. To improve the work with the children, the modernisation of an intensive treatment place for small early-born was donated by the Korff foundation. Also additional functional beds for the mother's and child area were newly acquired with the help of the Korff foundation. Furthermore a "Life Island" was established by the revenues which were achieved through the action "Sale of screen prints by the artist Jörg Immendorff" which was performed by the Korff foundation.
