Vita Imi Knoebel

1940Born in Dessau (Germany) on 31. December under the name Klaus Wolf Knoebel
1950Moves with his family to Mainz
1962-1964Attendance of the "Werkkunstschule Darmstadt", with Imi Giese
1964- 1971Switch to the "Staatliche Kunstakademie", Düsseldorf (Prof. Joseph Beuys)
1968First exhibition in Copenhagen
1982Engagement for "Solidarnosc" together with artists like Georg Baselitz and Joseph Beuys and auction of works in support of "Solidarnosc"
1988Knoebel created the artwork "Kinderstern", which stands up for children's rights and finances projects for children in need to this day.

Imi Knoebel retrospective at the "Haus der Kunst" (München), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), IVAM Valencia, Kunsthalle Düsseldorf and Musée Grenoble
2006Award as honorary doctor of the "Friedrich-Schiller-Universität", Jena
2008-2011Order and manufacturing of six new church windows for the cathedral of Reims, Paris
2012Awarded the Kythera Prize, Düsseldorf
